My “gypsy” blood comes from having been born and raised abroad. The daughter of a U.S. diplomat, I was born in Manila, the Philippines. The next 18 years of my life were spent living and traveling overseas with my parents, Sonia and George, and my sister, Rebecca, who is now a psychologist in Los Angeles, California. From the Philippines, we moved to Venezuela, Korea, the Fiji Islands, Ireland, Ecuador, Okinawa; and I’ve been blessed to have visited many other parts of the world since my childhood. My first foray into acting was as Bottom, in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, at Park House, an all girls' school in Dublin, Ireland. This role was followed by several others during the 6 years I was there. I eventually found my way to L.A. and graduated, with honors, from California State University, Northridge, with a B.A. degree in Theatre Arts. At first, I had planned on becoming a physical therapist, but when I received my only C, in Biology, during my first semester, and was then told by a university counselor that, as a result of my vocational and personality tests (and the fact that I was a Gemini), I would probably never graduate so it didn’t really matter what I majored in, I switched to Theatre Arts. I did graduate, with honors, but when I went to show the counselor my diploma, I was very disappointed to find that he was no longer there. So much for his longevity. I have worked in theatres across the country from L. A. to the southeast, garnering various awards for my work, including the South Florida Critics' Association’s Carbonell Award for Best Actress for “The Music Lesson” at Florida Stage, and several nominations for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Ensemble for various shows. Please see my resume’ for specific credits. Having been raised abroad, I have a great facility for dialects, accents and languages. In my spare time, I write poetry, make jewelry, and am an amateur photographer; and I adore traveling and discovering new places. I’m a proud member of Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Actors' Equity Association (AEA)and American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA). Thank you for exploring my site. |
